CULTURE AND EVENTS:

National day of Remembrance and Action on Violence Against Women 

Gymanstics club at lunch

Popsicles – on sale at lunch break in the foyer  – only one dollar! WOW!

Talent Show auditions start next week! Come up to M Barwin’s room at lunch recess. Grade 6s are on Monday, Grade 8s on Tuesday and Grade 7s on Wednesday, with extra auditions Thursday and Friday.

Medieval Market –  hi y’all, make sure to stop on by at the Medieval Market next Tuesday, December 11th, after school in the cafeteria! Bring your friends, family, and everyone else. At our stand you will find cookies, candles and treats. Don’t forget your money and write it in your calendar. See you there!! (submitted by a student in Div 12- Mme Madeleine’s class)

For anyone who just wants to stay in their pyjamas all day, there’s an event for you. The Pyjama Prance is happening in Esquimalt this Sunday! It’s a community fundraiser for the Rainbow Kitchen Society. This is a family-friendly walk/run/prance event where you can either do a 2 km or a 5 km loop. The event also needs volunteers. ATHLETICS: 

Congratulations to grade 6/7 Boys Competitive Basketball Team!  They had a solid season with emphasis on teamwork, defence and building new skills. There will be a wrap up party in Mrs. Heatherington’s room at 12 noon today.

Our Girls 6/7 Comp will play be playing in the city’s bronze match at SMU today. This final match will bring a closure to a very successful Basketball season.  Good luck girls!”

Volleyball: Guest  . . . M. Duval

Most of the registration forms have been handed in to the office and students’ names have been recorded on teams’ first draft.  Those are due at the latest tomorrow (Friday, Dec 6). No guarantee to be placed on a team after that.

It is very important . . .  to have these parental forms  and . . . to attend practices.

Until competition begins in January, teams will practice on their game days.

So today: Boys 7 will have their first, very important,  practice 3 – 4:45

Friday: Boys & Girls Gr 8  3- 4:30

Monday: Boys Gr 8

Tuesday:  All Girls Grade 6 & 7

Wednesday:  Mega clinic for all Grade 7 & 8 (Boys & Girls)

Thursday (Dec 13) all Boys 6 & 7

MUSIC:  

Congratulations to all of the music students, over 200 of you in ten different ensembles, who performed in last night’s Winter Concert. There were many magical moments and we are all so proud of you! Please make sure your term 1 practice cards are in by Monday morning.

Choir students who are participating in today’s performance at the Victoria Convention Centre, please meet in the choir room at nutrition break. We will be back at the school during lunch. In order to participate, you must be in uniform, and you must have handed in your permission form by now. No last-minute permission forms will be accepted.

REMINDERS:  

Outdoor Education exploratory students are reminded to dress for cold weather.  It is getting colder, and Outdoor Education classes will continue to happen outdoors.  Toques, gloves, earmuffs, thick socks, layers of clothing and warm jackets are highly recommended.  

And finally, if you’re interested in hosting the announcements, there will be auditions in Mr. Welby’s room at 12:10 tomorrow.  We’re looking for both lead and guest hosts. You’ll need to be reliable, a confident reader with lots of energy and enthusiasm.  See you tomorrow at lunch recess!
