As part of our responsibility to help those less fortunate, Mr. Owen’s division 22 class, has taken on the challenge of helping some of Victoria’s homeless population. For the past few years the amazing people at Grace Lutheran Church have purchased and donated the back packs to help the cause. With money raised through various donation projects we were able to fill the backpacks with essentials like flashlights, first aid kits, hand sanitizer, lip balm, and some chocolate treats and granola bars that were wrapped inside socks, toques and gloves.
Friends from the Justice Van Society were able to find those in greatest need and deliver them one of 12 backpacks that were created.
Through the efforts of people from the BC Synod Mission Team, the members of the Mission and Outreach Team Anne Weicker and Barbara Smart, Shari Yore Church Treasurer and the many other people of Grace Lutheran Church our project was possible this year, Thank you again!
Division 22 will look to further help by making 100+ sandwiches to hand out to the hungry homeless in the new year!
